Launch of the new Global Mind portal
The research center Global Minds at Work in collaboration with ETIL research group is proud to announce the launch of the new Global Mind Monitor (GMM) at the 3rd Global Minds Research and Education Day on the 23rd of March 2023. The new tool, now also including questions about our thoughts, feelings and actions towards sustainability, comes together with a brand new portal. The portal has some new features such as a toolkit with a variety of ideas for intercultural learning as well as blogs and vlogs from and for students. Besides, interesting news items in the field of global competence development are shared.
The origins of the Global Mind Monitor date back to 2014, when a need for a tool that could give insight in the development of a student’s global mind arose. The Global Mind Monitor was born! In the beginning it was Excel-based but the more students used it the more it became apparent that a professional web portal to embed the Global Mind Monitor was indispensable. That’s when the partnership with Etil research group took off. A functional portal was built, and over the years more and more universities and universities of applied sciences in the Netherlands and Belgium started to use the GMM in different study programs.
The field of global competence development is very dynamic and new insights demanded an upgrade of the Global Mind Monitor. An important addition to the questionnaire concerns one’s thoughts, feelings and actions toward sustainability, which does justice to the relationship between global competence and the ability to reflect upon and engage with others worldwide in global problems. With input from various universities that already use the GMM Etil and the research center Global Minds at Work worked hard to redesign the tool and the portal and to migrate previous data. And new plans are already in the works… what to think about a Spanish version of the GMM (thanks to PXL) and a GMM for vocational training (MBO)? Stay tuned!
